In the fall of 2001 my sister was diagnosed with MS. That can be a pretty daunting thing. It's easy to feel helpless and, worse yet, hopeless. Organizations like the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) have given us HOPE. Hope for a better life. Hope for a possible cure.

    Hope. It's a powerful thing.

  7. How can I make a donation to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society?
  8. Simply click here and it will take you to our BikeMS fundraising page.

  9. If I make a donation to the NMSS, how will the money be used?
  10. A portion of all donations to the NMSS is used for nationwide initiatives like research. Thanks to support from donors like you, the Society is able to invest millions of dollars in hundreds of research studies each year. Your support is key to paving the way to understanding the disease, developing better treatments, and finding a cure. Donations are also used to fund comprehensive and vital programs and services for people living with MS and their families. From care management, to financial assistance, to educational, wellness and recreational programs, to advocacy and a national call center, your contributions make it all possible.

  11. Will I get a receipt for my donation?
  12. Yes. If you donate online there will be a page you can print off and use as a receipt. If you donate in person at your local chapter you will also receive a receipt.

  13. Is my donation tax deductible?
  14. This depends on the laws of the land in which you reside. If you live in the United States of America and itemize on your tax return, any donations given to the National MS Society are fully tax deductible to the extent of the law (where no goods and services were received). Contributions to the NMSS qualify for the charitable contributions deduction to the extent provided by Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.

  15. Besides making a donation, what can I do to make a difference in the lives of people living with MS?
